Summer Sessions

Summer travel in Australia for high school students

Rustic Pathways’ Summer Sessions are here! For the first time, we invite you to join us for adventure travel in the Australian summer of 2020/21. Summer Sessions are open-enrolment trips within Australia for students aged 14-18. Join Aussie students from across the country on a series of our greatest programs along the east coast of Australia. Maroon yourself on a remote island in the Great Barrier Reef, learn to surf on the Sunshine Coast, get a backstage pass to Australia Zoo, whitewater raft the Tully River, chill on beaches in the Daintree Rainforest, and more!

Ready to get out of isolation? This is an incredible opportunity to maximise your summer and explore Australia while making new friends and visiting spectacular parts of our country. Your summer needs an awesome story, and Rustic is here to make this summer the best one ever!

Summer Sessions are open to young people between the ages of 14 to 18 with a thirst for adventure. But the Rustic Summer Sessions are for a short run only and we have limited places available. Register today and lock in your place for the most unforgettable summer of your life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do students come from?

Students on Summer Sessions come from right across Australia. These programs are open to Australian high school students from years 8 – 12. The diversity of our students is one of the wonderful aspects of travelling with us and you’ll make new friends from around the country!

Do most people travel with a friend?

No, most students on Summer Sessions do not know anyone when they arrive. Some students do choose to travel with one or two friends to share the experience, but most students are coming to meet new people. Our programs provide a safe, welcoming, inclusive environment for students of many different backgrounds.

Is travelling on your own scary?

Don’t worry – you won’t really be on your own. Everyone else on the program will be in the same boat as you and you’ll quickly make friends. After our trips, students tell us that the other “strangers” on their program have become life-long friends. Think of this as an incredible opportunity to meet new people and have a once-in-a-lifetime experience shared with great new friends!

Where do Summer Sessions start and finish?

Australian students will meet their group in their destination airport. Rustic Program Leaders will meet you at the airport when you arrive and connect you with your group.

How does air travel work?

Students generally travel independently to and from their destination. Rustic can book your flights or you can arrange them yourself. Most airlines can assist with arranging an unaccompanied minor service if required. We do not have chaperones on flights within Australia.

Who will my leaders be?

Each group has a minimum of two Program Leaders who are experts in running trips for students. Our staff come from all over the world and our leadership teams are carefully designed to ensure students have the best experience possible. Our Program Leaders are highly-trained, certified in wilderness first aid and take safety very seriously.

What’s included?

The program includes all activities listed in the itinerary, accommodation, transport, meals, leaders and safety backup. The price does not include flights to get to/from your destination.

I’ve never travelled with Rustic before. Can I speak to a family or student who has?

Absolutely. Contact us at rustic@rusticpathways.com.au and we’ll put you in touch.
