Steve Irwin Wildlife Reserve Expedition

Over many years, Rustic Pathways has developed a strong relationship with Australia Zoo. The Steve Irwin Wildlife Reserve (SIWR) was gifted to Terri Irwin by the Australian Government. It stands as a living memorial to Steve’s passion for all things wild. Today, the reserve is frequented by scientists from around the world. These include botanists, arachnologists, pharmacists, hydrologists, ornithologists, ichthyologists and every other
‘ist’ you can imagine. The reserve is home to rare and vulnerable plants and wildlife. Its ecosystems perform crucial roles. They act as wildlife refuges and corridors for movement and dispersal of many species of flora and fauna.

A range of high level research projects are conducted on the Reserve throughout the year. The reserve also hosts the Australia Zoo Croc Research Trip, led by the Irwin Family. Their yearly trip is the largest study ever conducted on crocodiles. Our Steve Irwin Wildlife Reserve Expedition is a once in a lifetime experience! You’ll get to check out ground-breaking research and support conservation projects within the reserve.
