Australia General Manager
Sam joined Rustic Pathways in 2008 after working in outdoor education for 10 years. He serves as director for both inbound and outbound operations in Australia. With education degrees from La Trobe and Monash universities, Sam’s passion for travel and love of the outdoors has inspired him to develop our Australian companies to provide experiential education programs.
Fiji Country Director
Born in New Zealand and now living between Australia and Fiji, Evan has spent the last 25 years helping to grow and shape Rustic Pathways. As the organisation’s longest-standing employee, he serves as a director for our Fijian and Australian companies. Evan is an inveterate traveller, and when away from work, he enjoys exploring the world with his wife and two sons.
Australia Finance and Human Resource Manager
Valeska is an accomplished high school teacher and sub- school coordinator who joined Rustic Pathways in 2014. With a bachelor in education and human movement from Deakin University, she is an exceptional operator who now manages finance and administration in our Australian office. Valeska’s warm, friendly personality makes her a pleasure to have on our team.
Australia Community Impact Manager
Tracey joined Rustic in 2008 after nearly a decade of teaching and surfing professionally. A natural educator who believes in developing students’ intellectual and physical capacities, Tracey is passionate about inspiring students to live healthy, active lives with a strong sense of purpose. She manages our service partnerships in Australia to ensure our projects adhere to best practices.
Group Travel Manager
A British/American raised in Switzerland, Brunei and the U.S., Katie holds a bachelors in public relations from the University of Florida. After four years of backpacking the world, working and travelling, she moved to Melbourne, Australia where she now permanently resides. Her passions for adventure, people and wanting to teach others about travel have led her to Rustic Pathways.
Group Travel Manager
Born in New Zealand, Zandy lived and studied in New York where he complete a bachelor’s in tourism management. Zandy’s extensive experience leading Rustic programs throughout Southeast Asia, teaching English in Thailand, and managing a travel agency in Melbourne, has given him a unique skill set for managing our Australian school groups.
Australia Country Manager
With a degree in business and tourism management, Alejo has been part of Rustic’s global team since 2011. Originally from Colombia, he has led our programs in six countries and now manages Australia’s inbound operations. With a unique Spanish twist to his new- found Aussie accent, Alejo brings an exciting blend of cultures to our programs.
Australia Outback Operations Manager
Melanie has been leading trips throughout Australia and the Fiji Islands since 2014 and now manages our outback operations. She grew up in the East Kimberley, spending her childhood flying in helicopters, riding horses, and wrestling crocodiles. Melanie’s strong leadership skills and adventurous personality make her a wonderful role model and an exceptional manager.
Australia Social Impact Coordinator
Simon brings a passion for the unique opportunities Rustic offers our next generation of world leaders. Through his career as an educator, expedition leader, and outdoor education professional, Simon has made the world his classroom and supports students in reaching their potential. He coordinates our community engage- ment program and manages post-travel social impact.
Sophie joined Rustic in 2016 to assist in our Victorian office. A former scholarship student of Toorak College and The Peninsula School, Sophie has a heart for people and is actively involved in volunteer work on a local and international level. She is an excellent administrator who works behind the scenes to prepare our school groups for travel.
Australia Program Manager
Jemma joined us in 2014 and quickly became a much- loved member of our Australian team. With a degree in leisure management and outdoor recreation, she is an all-star program leader who is always a highlight for students and staff. Jemma has lead programs through Australia, Fiji and Thailand and her adventurous spirit lends her well to our remote outback trips.
